Since 1995, EOTECH Holographic Weapon Sights (HWS) have been designed, developed and manufactured in the US. In 2016, EOTECH expanded its optics line by introducing the Vudu line of premium magnified optics designed to cater to the most sophisticated of users.
Our exacting standards demand continued focus on product quality, not quantity, ensuring that the highest specifications are not only met, but exceeded. Every optic manufactured is treated as if it will be the one that will face a life and death situation. When there are zero margins for error, compromise is not an option.

EOTECH® HISTORY
1972
The University of Michigan created Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) in Ann Arbor, Michigan as stand-alone non-profit organization. ERIM grew out of military and environmental research, contributing to the development of remote sensing, radar, and holography applications.
1986
ERIM presented holography weapon sight prototypes to the US Army for use with helicopter gunships and anti-aircraft artillery.
1995
With ERIM as incubator, subsidiary EOTECH created to apply holographic technology to small firearms sights.
1996
EOTECH introduced the first HWS at SHOT Show in conjunction with sporting optics brand leader Bushnell. Later, HWS won the Optic of the Year Award from the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence.
2001
EOTECH introduced military and law enforcement HWS models, achieving the 2001 Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence Optic of the Year Award.
2001
US Special Operations (USSOCOM), select elite Army units, and the US Marine Corps chose EOTECH HWS as the preferred close-quarter combat optic of choice.
2005
EOTECH acquired by L-3 Communications (now L3Harris), one of the world's largest defense contractors.
2016
EOTECH introduced Vudu brand precision riflescopes, with quick and accurate target ranging at all magnification levels.
2018
The National Rifle Association (NRA) honored EOTECH with the Golden Bullseye Optic of the Year award for the Vudu® 1-6x Precision Rifle Scope.
2020
EOTECH officially separated from L3Harris, and will once again be an agile, independent business that is focused on high tech products and superior service.
2022
EOTECH acquires Intevac Inc’s Photonics division, a California-based technology leader in cutting edge digital sensor systems and night-vision programs for U.S. and foreign militaries.
2022
EOTECH diversifies its product line by launching its first LED based pistol sight called the EFLX® Mini Reflex Sight for both professional and personal use.
2023
EOTECH releases the OGL® (On-Gun Laser) product.
2025
EOTECH rebrands the sensor division to EVS™, Edge Vision Systems.
2025
EOTECH merges with VKI to bring a TAK solution to our product line-up.
